I've been following this news closely. I really feel for them, and their families. I can't say nuthing much, for what's gone is gone. May their soul be placed amongst the blessed, and rest in peace.
I don't know why this particular Nuri crash really struck my emotion. Probably because most of the deceased are within my age... 'cept for arwah pilot.
Today the news came out, Nuri will be phased out soon. Changing into a more modern copter. Only now? After 95 ppl died in 18 different crashes?
Would like to recite here a song featured in NST.
Penned by an unknown Canadian Sea King (or known as Nuri in M'sia) pilot and sung to the tune of Terry Jacks’ Seasons in the Sun, the lyrics go like this:
Goodbye papa please pray for me
My helicopter’s crashing in the sea
I honestly don’t mean to pout
But my future is in doubt
My co-pilot just fell out
Goodbye papa it’s hard to fly
When my airframe’s cracking in the sky
For every hour in the air
It takes them 30 to repair
We fly these things on a dare
We’ve had joy, we’ve had fun
We’ve had Sea Kings in the sun
But the engines are on fire
And the Sea Kings must retire
Goodbye Chretien (the former Canadian premier), my stingy one
You could have bought the EH-101
Instead you blew 500 mil
Just to cancel out the bill
Now I need an airsick pill
We’ve had joy, we’ve had fun
We’ve had Sea Kings in the sun
We’ll be lucky if we reach
A crash landing on the beach
