designers : : this . is . about . us .

I'm very sure, most designers, be it a product designer, fashion designer, graphic designer, web designer or even building designer encounter this predicament in their designing career.

When all we want to do is to design beautiful things and make the world a more beautiful place for the eye's to feed on, we're bound to limitations. We're bound to bosses' rules, regulations and deadlines. Some people who are ignorant about how ideas pour out, simply talk about designs naively without knowing how complicated a even a simple design being executed. they usually think designing is like potong ayam.

Many think [even people who call emselves designers but know shit bout designing] that executing a design is simply by putting attractive or pretty things on a layout. Little do non-designers know, every single element of a design haf to be thoroughly thought out and mostly are symbolic; and symbolization doesn't come out easily. To come out with meaningful but attractive designs, there are things like brainstorming, mind-mapping, sketching after sketching, paper wasting and killing trees going on, just to name a few.

Some typical ignorant citizens sumtimes look at us designers as people with lower IQ or EQ than typical engineers, simply by saying 'Alah, they study art only, not science or engineering'. On the contrary, do they know that we're engineers too? we're mind, hand and eye engineers. tho our gears are not as huge as a milling machine, but our brains are working as hard, our muscles are working as much. And they forgot, that many legendary Scientists and Mathematician like Leo Da Vincci are into both fields, Science and Arts. There's even a saying that 'Science and Arts complements each other'

I know many non-designers are reading this, and not all agree with me. but do give it a thought, when u're around a designer, try to understand them, by using this post as a guide. Especially if dat designer is your child, spouse or employee.

Just my rants and raves, costs two cents...

I agree with you,

To put nice things and arrange them to look nice, is something everyone can do, and those all depending on the eye of beholder.

To symbolize.. susah.. seriously.

And sometimes, I dunno what I was doing. To symbolize doesn't mean that it has to be nice.

Jeles la.. dulu tak belajar art..

erm... art boleh blajar dengan byk cara... tapi to really learn art, in depth, i'm yet to do it myself. kat limkokwing diorang tak ajar banyak benda... art sikit sikit je. i'm still wishing to go further in arts education.

tulah, kadang kadang symbolizing might not look pretty, but, the meaning yang pretty :)

I don't know if life would be as interesting as now if I didn't have artistic values :)
