M! for Marvellous!!

i was blessed to be able to watch M! the Opera, guilt-free. and it was worth every cent, time and sweat i had to spend to get there. plus the sitting was very very good, we (me, Raimy Faren n Aiza also Oja's parents, Oja n cousins sat in another row) had 3rd row from the front, and my seating was right in the middle! magnificent view..!

M!

out of 5 stars, i'd give 4! eh four je? well i am a perfectionist :op.

honestly, i didnt do much homework before watching d theater, i only read a few lines of synopsis and reviews yesterday. and without my glasses (i hate wearing em) i didnt recognize many faces of the casts, except Maizurah Hamzah, Azean Irdawaty (my fav diva!!), Paula Malai Ali, and some guy i've seen in the few theaters i went before. but when i went back browsing the website, the hero (M!) was Khir Rahman, a former member of the band Iklim and acted in PGL. i really thought he was good, although to me personally, good doesn't mean he blended in the whole performance well. his voice is too typical Malayish male while Sepi's (Doreen Tang) incredible soprano voice was... uhm.. international? no.. maybe Chinese, or a mixture of Malay-Chinese but (i'm agreeing with wat Faren commented) there wasn't too much chemistry between them both. which gives me a little bit of an awkward feeling. if only they had blended well, oh the show was gonna be PERFECT!!!

George Chan as Kerabat was incredible. not a wonder, read about his intriguing experiences in musicals and theaters before like Miss Saigon and Chicago. Maizurah successfully brought her role as M's mother (a seamstress) well, and Diva Azean Irdawaty and Maizurah's assistant d 'half-man' spiced up some comedy in the earlier act. and seeing Elyssa Murni the Young Sepi acting, makes me really really want to get Jazz into an acting class. God i'd be delighted if she agrees to be sent. i had plans to send her to piano school before, just like i did when i was younger. i really agree dat music does trigger the young minds to think better, critically and rationally.i loved music since i was very young, and i could see that she is too.

acting is one thing, but execution, depiction and production was a major success for d performance. lighting, choreography, music, voices was incredible, i salute the whole team, especially Director Jo Kukathas, the Composer Saidah Rastam, the Libberist (text-written) Jit Murad for this marvellous performance. i'm hoping Malaysians can come out with a lot of this kind of quality performances and what i know, i'm going to be active theater-goer again, one day.

after M! the Opera i went to meet Jazz n hubby in Sg Wang, they had to pick up hubby's aunty/uncle in KLIA and send em to their accomodation in KL. dat's y i said it's guilt free day, i didnt neglect anyone and i did cook and help azam clean the house this morning. and when i got back, i ironed his work wear and now i haf ample time all for myself, at 2.00 am :op

thank you God, today is a good day.

it's arwah endon's ex-pet project, of course he went and watch.

but it's good, dunno bout pak lah but i luv it. a little sexy, spices of comedy, sprinkles of romance, fine mixture of music genres, modern and traditional, to some people it's too much of a mixture (rojak) but to me, the recipe tastes good though.

itsa good attempt, really. like i said, i'd give 4 stars, and my stars are quite expensive.
